Are you?

  • Going to interview for a job of a Supervisor, having no idea how to answer all difficult situational and behavioral questions they are going to ask you?
  • Experiencing stress, unsure how to make a great impression on your interviewers?
  • Struggling to understand what matters in this interview, and how to get hired at the end?

Don’t worry, you are not alone, and I’ve got the answers you are looking for!

See a short video below (4 minutes 3 seconds exactly), where I describe what’s in the eBook, and how it will help you to get a job. If you prefer reading text to watching video, or if you struggle to understand my voice, just scroll below the video and continue reading. * Please note that the video is a bit old :). The eBook has been updated several times since, and not all information you see in the video is still valid. We have also decreased the price, and now you can get the eBook for $12.

In the book you will find multiple great answers to each of the following questions:

  • How would you assess the level of motivation of your subordinates?
  • What do you consider the main goals of a supervisor?
  • How do you (would you) handle conflicts with people you supervise?
  • How would you motivate your team members to produce the best possible results?
  • Describe a situation when you went above and beyond with your service (for the customer, for the colleague, for your subordinate).
  • Describe a situation when you were unable to solve the problem on your own.
  • Describe a time when you struggled to communicate something to your boss or subordinate. How did you manage to get your message over?
  • Describe the biggest failure of your professional career.
  • … and 17 other tough questions you may (and likely will) face in your interview for a job of a supervisor.

To ensure you will get the job, I added to the questions six principles of success in a supervisor job interview. Let me show you one right now.

Sample from the eBook (one of the six principles of success)

Principle no. 2: Show them that you understand the difference between supervisor and manager—and want to be a supervisor.

Most often than not, your future boss will lead the interview with you.

It is important to make a good connection with the person, and convince them that you understand your position in the hierarchy of the company.

You will supervise people at work. You will look after the performance of each employee, and ensure they work effectively.

You may plan the shifts for people and you may even train new hires to do the job.

But you won’t manage any other resources, and you won’t decide about the processes, and the way the work is done. Nor will you hire new people, or dismiss existing one.

That is the task for project managers, process managers, HR managers, or operations mangers. They will make the decisions, and tell you how the people should work.

Your task will be to instruct the people on the job, and later ensure that they follow the instructions throughout the shift, day after day.

This is an essential difference. Anytime they ask you questions such as: How do you imagine your typical day in work? What do you consider the duties of a supervisor?, etc, keep this difference on your mind.

I experienced it first hand that job candidates misunderstood this difference, and talked about duties of a manager in their interview for a job of a supervisor.

But that’s another position and requires different skills, and most importantly, different kind of mindset. The level of responsibility and salary is also different.

I can’t remember a single candidate who didn’t get this difference right ending up hired. We always sent them home, and somebody else got the job. We had to do it, because we were recruiting a new supervisor, not a new manager.

You apply for a supervisory job—keep it on your mind anytime talking about your working duties and expectations in an interview….
