We should not follow certain direction in life just because everyone else does so. It is important to have goals and dreams, and to know why we attend a school, a college, or some interesting course. And even though it is important to live in a present moment and do not see everything just as a means to an end, our future matters the most when we speak about any form of education. That’s why I actually like this question that you may face on an application form to any good course. Since you should not attend the course just because there is some certification or diploma at the end. Or because your school buddy also wants to attend it… You should know how it will help you in the future–or at least how you hope it will help you :).

And that’s exactly what the people in the admission committee wants to read on your application. Tell them a story. Share your future dream with them, and explain how the course will help you to achieve it. And if you answer this question in a face to face interview, make sure to talk with some enthusiasm in your voice. You’re still pretty young when you can afford going to courses. You will have enough time to be depressed later in life :).

  1. My eventual goal is to become a great nurse. Obviously it is important gaining certificates and merits, but what matters for me the most is the knowledge. I know that nutrition plays an important role in every treatment and recovery, and I want to broaden my horizons in the field. That’s why I decided to apply for a spot in your course, and I am sure the knowledge gained here will help me a lot in my future career.
  2. I hope to work as a freelance designer of mobile phone apps. That’s my ultimate goal, and also my passion. Obviously the more programming languages one knows, the more options they have in their IT career. I am sure the knowledge of Ruby that I will gain in this course will open me new doors in mobile game development, but most importantly, it will allow me to pursue my goals in the future.
  3. Well, I just hope to stay healthy, even when getting older. Physiotherapy and stretching is very important nowadays, considering the way we live, the lack of movement, the sedentary jobs and everything. This course in basic physiotherapy for laymen will help me understand my body better, and allow to me to take care of it well in the future. That’s what I hope this course will bring me in my future. Of course, having the knowledge is one thing, and taking action another. I know that taking the course is not enough, and I have to practice and exercise later. But I plan to do that.
  4. I would love to travel the world in the future. Working, volunteering, and sometimes just relaxing, that’s the way I imagine living until I am 30 years old. Obviously knowing languages makes it much easier to pursue my dream, and that’s how I hope this Spanish course will help me in the future. When traveling, it matters for me a lot to connect with local people, and that’s hard to do without speaking the language. Latin America interests me greatly in particular, and Spanish is the one language to know when one wants to travel there.
  5. Just pure joy, and relaxation, which piano playing brings to anyone. After a heavy day, when your mind is super occupied, there’s nothing better than sitting at the piano and letting it all go into some beautiful musical peace… I hope this piano course will help me cope with the troubles of everyday better in the future, because I will have this escape, playing the musical instrument. In my opinion, it is a much better escape than alcohol drugs, games, etc.
